Alcohol poisoning is something I never really thought much about until 2010 when a fellow radio DJ who was only 35-years-old died from it.

This is definitely some sobering news if you plan on tipping back a couple drinks this weekend.

According to the CDC, roughly six Americans die of alcohol poisoning every day and more than 2,200 people died from drinking too much booze each and every single year between 2010 and 2012. The majority of those who've lost their lives are men.

I know what you're probably thinking- frat parties and initiation are the problem, right? No, they're not. Just five percent of those deaths were people ages 15 to 24. 77 percent were ages 35 to 64. 76 percent were men.

I think what's even more scary is that experts say there's really no way to calculate how many drinks puts you at risk for alcohol poisoning or even how high your blood-alcohol content has to be before your body starts shutting down.
