The Binghamton Home and Garden Show is always a breath of fresh air because you know spring is here and it eases the planning on those home improvements that need to get done inside and outside.

The 2016 Home and Garden Show is presented by the Southern Tier Home Builders and Remodeling Association and this year's show will look a little different.  For the first time, the show moves to the spacious Binghamton University Events Center.  A new look for the new season ahead.

Here are some of the things I am most excited to be searching out at the show:

  1. Remodeling - I need help in the kitchen.  I've been reading a lot about adding value to your home and it seems that kitchens and bathrooms are the two rooms that add the most value to your home.  It will be nice to have a number of local businesses all in one place to seek out free advice and estimates.
  2. Solar - So much has been written about solar in the last few years that it's on my list of things to check out.  I understand there are a number of new rebates available to make this renewable energy source very affordable.  And who wouldn't love to sell their energy back to NYSEG?!
  3. Gardens -  I'm always looking for new ideas and designs for my 13 gardens.  This year my goal is to keep the weeding time down.  With a number of landscapers at the show, I'm hoping to find some answers.
  4. Insulation - Owning an old farm house and currently heating my house with oil, I need to take care of the insulation in my house before next winter.
  5. Spas and Hot Tubs -  I've always wanted one so I'll be checking this out to see what my options are and if it makes sense on my budget.

The show runs Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.  Admission is $5.00 and children under 18 years old are free.  For a full list of vendors click HERE.
