People in the Southern Tier tend to get bummed out when we experience a long stretch of rainy weather like we have experienced in the Binghamton area over the last few weeks.  There's nothing you can do about it and there are some options if you are on vacation or if you just want to cheer yourself up.

#5~  Call some old friends together and go to a place you have never been before.  Downtown Binghamton has some new taverns, local breweries and restaurants popping up all over the place.  Go in for a beer or a glass of wine and look over their menu for a new app (as in appeizer) and maybe stay for a meal if the company is worthy.

#4~  Redbox.  Nothing like staying home with a movie you haven't seen or an old favorite.

#3~  Local Museums deserve a second look.  There is always something fascinating at the Roberson Museum and Science Center on Front Street in Binghamton.  There are other museums nearby such as the Bundy Museum on Main Street and the Technology Museum on Water Street, both near downtown Binghamton.

#2~  Catch a new movie.  One of my favorite places to go that does not cost an arm and a leg is off Washington Avenue in Endicott in the back of the former Burt's.  Cinema Saver is a great alternative to the high priced theaters on the Vestal Parkway and Front Street.  Owego and Deposit also have some great theaters to catch first run movies.

#1~  Stay home, sort through stuff and organize.  You'll thank yourself when the sun returns. I did this on my rainy vacation and it's really helped me focus.
