Sadly for me, my landlord has put his foot down and won’t allow his tenants to have pets anymore, no matter how many times I give him the puppy dog look. I can’t even tell you how much I’d love to get a dog, but since I can’t have one right now, the next best thing is to help out the Broome County Dog Shelter!

The 3rd Annual Broome County Dog Shelter Open House happens this Saturday, June 14th from 10am-2pm. The Broome County Dog Shelter is located at 11- Cutler Pond Road and during their open house you’ll be able to volunteer for the day, walk some dogs and take a tour of their facility.

Donations will also be accepted, so if you want to help out, but don’t have a bunch of time to hang out, the Broome County Dog Shelter is looking for the following donations:

  • Blankets and towels,
  • Dog beds
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Dawn dish detergent
  • Bleach
  • Pedigree adult size dog food
  • Canned Pedigree dog food
  • Dog collars and leashes
  • Harnesses
  • Dog crates
  • Dog treats
  • Dog treats and Nyla bones

And of course, monetary donations are always welcome!
