13th Annual Traci’s Hope at Apalachin Fairgrounds on Saturday
I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years already since we lost a friend to many of us, Traci Gibson. We lost her to breast cancer on October 3rd, 2006.
It means that it’s time for a special fundraiser that Traci started called “Traci’s Hope.”
She wanted to give “Hope” to others that were going through what she was going through and it’s still going strong today. She was so strong.
I remember back in 2006, I thought she had recovered and it was in remission. When I spoke to her, I would have never known she was still fighting it so. Her sister was the one that told me how sick she still was.
Traci’s Hope is a not-for-profit fund set up to help men and women who are going through breast cancer in our area. They pay for many different services that insurance companies don’t pay for.
Sometimes it is gas cards, or day care. Sometimes it is house cleaning, or mortgage payments. While fighting this disease, the needs could be endless, and nobody should have to do it alone.
Traci’s Hope is here to make sure everyone gets the support she was blessed to have before she left us. The 13th annual fundraiser is from Noon to 6 at the Apalachin Fairgrounds.
It’s also the 10th annual Motorcycle Ride to Traci’s Hope at Wheels Roadhouse/Hiawatha Motorcycles, 3000 St, Rt 434 in Apalachin. Registration for the ride is 10:30 and kickstands up at 12:30pm.
They’ve had as many as 357 bikers participate and would like to break the record. The weather on Saturday looks good for riding with temperatures in the lower 60’s.
So if you’re looking for a good reason to go for a ride on your motorcycle, I can’t think of a better reason then this.
I can’t stress this enough……all the money raised for this event and all the other Traci’s Hope events stay local. All proceeds benefit Broome, Tioga, Bradford and Susquehanna County.
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is a way to help others. I hope you have a chance to make it to the Fairgrounds on Saturday.
