14th Annual Traci’s Hope at Apalachin Fairgrounds on Saturday
What does Traci’s Hope mean to you? First who is Traci? Her name was Traci Gibson and we lost her too soon 11 years ago. She lost her battle to breast cancer on October 3rd, 2006.
She wanted to give “Hope” to others that were going through what she was going through and it’s still going strong today.
I remember back in 2006, I thought she had recovered and was in remission. When I spoke to her, I would have never known she was still fighting that awful battle. Her sister was the one that told me how sick she really was.
So what is Traci’s Hope? It’s a not-for-profit fund set up to help men and women who are going through breast cancer in our area. They pay for many different services that insurance companies don’t pay for.
It could be a gas card, day care, house cleaning or mortgage payments. While fighting this disease, the needs could be endless, and nobody should have to do it alone.
Traci’s Hope is here to make sure everyone gets the support she was blessed to have before she left us. The 14th annual fundraiser is from 12 pm to 6 pm at the Apalachin Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 7th.
It’s also the 11th annual Motorcycle Ride to Traci’s Hope. The weather looks great for a ride with sunshine and a high of 70. So if you’re looking for a good reason to go for a ride on your motorcycle, I can’t think of a better reason then this.
I can’t stress this enough……all the money raised for this event and all the other Traci’s Hope events stay local. All proceeds benefit Broome, Tioga, Bradford and Susquehanna County. I hope you can make it Saturday.
