If you ever watched American Idol in the early years when Simon Cowell was a judge, then you know that he wore virtually the same thing every single episode- a black, white or grey shirt and pair of jeans. Of course, he was teased about his wardrobe and so he took us behind the scenes to prove that he really did have more than three shirts and a pair of jeans. Simon had an entire closet of clothes- it just happened that he had dozens of the same color shirts and pants. I don't know about you, but I thought it was kind of crazy that Simon would stock up on the same shirt and pants by the dozens, but maybe he was on to something.

If it feels like you spend half your morning trying to figure out what to wear to work, you kind of do.

According to a new study, we ladies take about 17 minutes to decide what we're going to wear each day. Sure, that might not seem like a whole lot of time, but it definitely adds up. How much? Well, over the course of our lives, those 17 minutes each day comes out to a full six months.

Think your man is spending less time than you picking out clothes? He's not really. The average man spends 13 minutes a day deciding what to wear, which comes out to about four months of their lives.

If you’re tired of the daily struggle of trying to decide what to do, maybe give what I do a try? I’ve started laying my clothes out for the week on Sunday night before I go to bed. Not only do I get a couple extra minutes of sleep, but I’ve found that it’s so much easier than fumbling through the closet at 3am and it also prevents me from waking up my family while I’m getting dressed. I just grab that day’s outfit off the chair in my bedroom and pop into the shower to change.
