Woman Charged in Fatal Collision with Bicyclists in Cortland County

New York State Police say a Herkimer County woman is being charged in connection with a deadly collision involving a group of bicyclists in Cortland County.

Authorities say 36-year-old Amber Suprunchik of Dolgville, New York is charged with felony leaving the scene of a fatal accident and evidence tampering as well a misdemeanor leaving the scene of an injury accident and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the June 15 hit-and-run on Route 26 in Cincinnatus that left one of the bicyclists in a group of four riders dead and another injured.

State police had reported the group of friends was riding along State Route 26 when two were hit by a car that didn’t stop.

67-year-old Kitt Warren of DeRuyter was killed.  67-year-old John Rutan of McGraw suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was found later that night by a Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Investigators determined Suprunchik was driving and was not impaired at the time but she allegedly had tampered with the vehicle after the crash.

Suprunckik responded to the State Police barracks in Homer October 8 where she was processed then transported to Cortland County for arraignment.
