I saw an article on WBNG's website today about a bunch of school districts in Broome County having early dismissals this Thursday. I had to read the article twice because I couldn't  believe it.

A lot of schools in Broome County are going to have an early dismissal this Thursday for an  early dismissal drill. Yes you read that right, they're having early dismissals so when they need to have an early dismissal everything will run smoothly.

Are you kidding me? Where was this stuff when I was in school? I swear they come up with any excuse to let kids out of school early, or give them the day off completely. And I'm sure that last line made me sound like my father. But I digress.

According to WBNG, the following schools will dismiss students early on Thursday:

Binghamton:
the elementary school getting out at 10: 50, middle school at 11:40,
and the high school will be released at 11 a.m. .

Chenango Valley: will release all buildings 15 minutes early.

Johnson City, Windsor, Maine-Endwell,  and Union Endicott will all dismiss students  15 minutes early.

Vestal: will dismiss some students 15 minutes early, but it says the high school will not be affected by the drill.

I remember back in grade school, once we made it to school it didn't matter how much snow fell, we were there for the day. I think back then they thought it was safer for the kids to be in school rather to send them home early.

Man the kids now it is just don't know how well they have it.
