Monday marks the 22nd anniversary of 9/11/01. If you are old enough to remember that event then you'll never forget and you'll never forget where you heard the news and what you were doing that day.

On September 11th, 2001, two planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center. There were two other suicide flights with one crashing at the Pentagon and the other in a field in Pennsylvania. That morning, the Hawk Morning Show was playing a joke on our listeners.

That day was a sunny day with temperatures in the 70's. Sidney was on a two-hour delay because of a power problem and we were saying it was because of snow. We had listeners that had caught onto the joke and would call in and tell us about all the snow at their place.

Overall it made for a really fun morning. We let everyone in the joke around 8:30 and I'm so glad that we did. The event that happened 16 minutes later changed EVERYTHING that day and forever.

For a while, the country came together as one but that didn't last very long. Americans that were left in Afghanistan and the rhetoric that we are getting from the highest office in the land, makes me think that we haven't learned a thing in the last 20 years.

What We Need To Remember From September 11th, 2001

So as I look back, I want to thank Jim Cobb for sharing this with me and everyone else:

22 years ago last night, thousands of people went to bed with their loved ones for the last time. Some were excited and looking forward to a trip that they were taking in the morning.

Others were dreading their usual commute to work. How many of them were in a rush that morning? How many didn't make time to kiss their kids or their spouse? They mumbled a quick goodbye and headed out the door.

They didn't know it would be the last time they would see their loved ones. Tomorrow is promised to no one so take nothing and no one for granted. Tell them that you love them.

Apologize even if it wasn't your fault. Forgive, even if they don't know what they did was wrong. Laugh, Cry, Scream. Go for a walk and find shapes in the clouds. Do something nice for someone and let someone do something nice for you.

Stop waiting for things to happen. Get up and enjoy life. While you're at it, help someone else enjoy their life as well.

What We Should Learn From September 11th, 2001

With everything that's been going on around us for the past few years, we should take a moment to read what Jim had to say then read it again. We are more divided than ever and some people are perfectly happy that we are.

It makes me sad and mad to hear the garbage that we are fed every day. I feel worse for our kids because the world that we are living in now is NOT the world I grew up in and it's not the world that I want for my children or yours.

With all the divisiveness that is happening in our country now, I hear people saying that they wish that we could come together like we did on that fateful day. Granted, I hope that we aren't attacked on our soil like that again, but the unity that our country experienced would be welcomed.

GOD FORGIVE US ALL!
