New York Parents Urged to Check Freezers for These Dino Nuggets
If you’ve ever gotten home after a long day, kicked off your shoes, and stared into the freezer trying to figure out what the kids will actually eat for dinner, welcome to the club! For a lot of New York families, those fun-shaped frozen chicken nuggets are a go-to. Easy and usually a guaranteed win with the kids at dinnertime.
But there’s a new warning you’ll want to know about, especially if you’ve got a bag tucked away in the freezer.
A Harmful Metal Found in Kids’ Chicken Nuggets
A recent safety alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture is raising concerns about certain frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets sold at Walmart. Testing found that some of these products may contain lead levels higher than what’s considered acceptable, particularly for kids.

Here's the part that's scary for parents: young children are the most vulnerable to lead exposure. Even small amounts can impact development, especially when it comes to the brain and nervous system.
Check Your Freezer for This Exact Bag
Take a quick minute to look in your freezer. The item in question is:

If you’ve shopped at Walmart in New York and have kids (or are an adult-sized kid who loves dinosaurs), there’s a chance this product came through your door.
The Product Is Off Shelves, But May Still Be in Your Home
You might be wondering why, if this is serious, there isn't a full recall. Well, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, the product is no longer being sold in stores. However, that doesn’t mean it’s gone. When parents find something the kids like and will eat, we stock up. That means, there's a good chance you've got a bag sitting in your freezer, waiting for a busy Tuesday night, and that is exactly why the alert was issued.

Don’t Serve It: Throw It Out or Get a Refund
If you find this product in your freezer, the USDA's guidance is simple: don't serve it; either throw it away or take it back to Walmart for a refund.
