Binghamton Police were called to the Mirabido Gas station at 227 Court Street near the Phelps Mansion between Rutherford and Chapman Streets shortly after 3:30 a.m. and New York State Electric and Gas was called to work on shutting off natural gas to the site.

There were no reports of injury or fire in spite of early indications that a natural gas cutoff valve was stuck.

A woman answering the phone at the business says a tractor trailer hit a propane tank at the rear of the building, knocking off the heat but there was no major damage to the business and the convenience store was able to remain open.
