Two Cortland men in a car stopped by Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies on Route 13 in Cortlandville Saturday, May 28 for a traffic violation, are facing drug-related charges.

Deputies say, shortly after 11:30 a.m. they pulled 27-year-old Kyle Dayton over and found Dayton and his passenger, 39-year-old Patrick Duffy were in possession of 87 glassine envelopes of heroin, methamphetamine, buprenorphine, packaging material and cash.

Dayton and Duffy are both charged with two felony counts each of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two misdemeanor counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.

In addition, Dayton is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Reckless Driving, Displayed Forged Instrument, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, no seatbelt and no license.

Dayton was sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail while Duffy was released on his own recognizance.
