UPDATE: Missing SUNY Cortland Professor Found Dead

Cortland County Sheriff's officials are providing an update concerning a missing Cortlandville man with the discovery of a body on the evening of June 14.
Cortland County Sheriff’s officials on June 14 had issued a news release asking for help in locating a missing Cortlandville man.
41-year-old Muteb Alqahtani was last seen near his home at around 9:40 a.m. Monday, June 13.
The Sheriff’s office says the SUNY Cortland professor is of Middle Eastern descent, stands about five-feet, eight-inches tall and has dark, curly hair and a beard. The man appears to be of thin build. The authorities have not provided any information regarding what Alqahtani may have been wearing when he was last seen.
On Wednesday morning, authorities reported being notified that Alqahtani had been seen near Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville at around 11:11 a.m. June 13.
Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office and New York State University Police at Cortland walked the wooded area and found the body of a male, identified as Alqahtani.
At this time, Investigators say they do not suspect foul play.
Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the report of a missing person on June 13th after Algahtani was said to believed to have gone missing from his home.
Investigators say they believed the man was last seen shortly after 9:30 on Tompkins Street in the City of Cortland before receiving the update information and found the body.

The investigation is still ongoing. The cause of the man's death has not been announced and officials have not said if an autopsy has been performed.

Cortland County Sheriff's officials are being assisted in the investigation by the New York State Police, New York State University Police at Cortland, Cortland City Police Department, the Broome County Sheriff's Office and the Cortland County Coroner's Office.
