State police sealed off a town of Chenango neighborhood after a man barricaded himself inside his residence.

Authorities say troopers went to the home on Savitch Road around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday. They were following up after a reported domestic incident Tuesday.

Police had tried to make contact with the man because of some concern caused by comments he made.

A mobile crisis unit was called when the man would not leave the residence. The unit assisted troopers at the scene.

A nearby resident said police closed Savitch Road past Councilman Road. Several state police vehicles responded to the incident.

The man, whose name was not released, surrendered without incident around 1:30 p.m. He was transported to a crisis center for evaluation. No charges were expected to be filed.
