A teenager has been accused of being involved in the shooting of a Johnson City woman as she sat in a car on a downtown Binghamton street.

Authorities say 19-year-old Antonio Jones of Taftville, Connecticut was spotted by a Binghamton police officer on the West Side Tuesday evening.

The officer was aware the man was wanted in connection with a St. Patrick's Day drive-by shooting at 66 Chenango Street. Jones was taken into custody by the officer on Edwards Street.

Investigators say Jones has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault.

Jones is accused aiding and abetting someone else in the shooting incident in which another man in the parked car was targeted.

Police say shots fired from a handgun missed the intended target and instead wounded a 19-year-old woman who was sitting in the vehicle.

Detectives are continuing to seek other suspects in connection with the shooting incident.

Investigators say the woman who was wounded is continuing to recover from her injuries.

Jones was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.

People with information about the shooting may contact the Binghamton police Detective Bureau at 607.772.7080.
