SUNY Broome Community College says it is getting a nod from the State University of New York to welcome students for the Fall 2020 Semester both in-person and online.

The reopening plan has been developed for both kinds of instruction to begin starting Monday, August 31 and model a traditional semester schedule.

While classes are planned to be held through the entire semester, BCC says it is prepared to revert to all-distance learning if necessary with continued concerns about a resurgence of the coronavirus, a mutation or a combination of COVID-19 and traditional flu possible in the fall and winter.

The college issued a statement saying “As soon as we hear from Albany that our plan is a go, we will immediately notify everyone via mass media and on our website.”  BCC acknowledged that all plans hinge on people remaining vigilant and adhering to the guidelines for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

As part of the fall plan, BCC says all classroom and lab facilities have been assessed for capacity while maintaining physical distancing guidelines, all residence hall dorm rooms will be converted into single-student rooms and move-in day will be staggered over four days in mid-August with students screened on arrival and all students and staff must wear face coverings on campus.
