St. Patrick's Day is March 17th and it's on a Friday this year but you don't need to wait if your looking to kiss some Blarney Stone. You can begin two weeks early because it's Binghamton Parade weekend.

We all know about the Hibernian (Binghamton) St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday afternoon in downtown Binghamton. There's another parade in the area on Sunday (March 5th) afternoon in Hillcrest.

Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Hillcrest Saint Patrick's Day Parade began in 2012 when a group of neighbors in Hillcrest decided to get together and have a family-friendly parade for their community. The first parade had local community groups marching along with a small group of neighbors participated by riding on lawn mowers.

Today it has become a larger parade with the likes of The Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, Broome County Celtic Pipes and Drums that have participated in the past.

Also joining in the festivities are numerous local fire departments, community and school groups, along with many local Irish Dance groups. Everyone is welcome to join in, you can be like me and just show up and they'll find a place for you

US For Kids At The Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade

"US (Underwear and Socks) for Kids" has been a BIG part of the Hillcrest Saint Patrick's Day for many years. They think that every kid deserves to begin every day with a fresh start and that starts with getting dressed. So when you come to the parade on Sunday, you are encouraged to bring new underwear and socks.

The US FOR KIDS float will take them for you or you can drop them off at My Uncle's Place (the bar, not my relative). All the donations will be used to help kids in our area.

Many of the Pipe and Drum Bands that participate in the Binghamton parade on Saturday, stick around and come to the Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday. So it's your chance to see these fantastic groups twice in one weekend.

After the parade, some of the bagpipe bands will stick around and play at My Uncle's Place.
