Father's Day is this weekend and it's a time to honor Dad and the father-like figures in your life. I'm honoring my Pops, Carl Pitcher, he's a man of honor and faith and any of my shortcomings are not his (or my mom's) fault.

Maybe you are looking to do something for your dad this weekend but rising inflation and gas prices are putting a crimp in your wallet. So what do you do? I have an idea, find the father freebies. Here's a partial list of places to go to.

Southern Tier Father's Day Freebies

Phelps Mansion Museum -  If you're busy on Sunday, then stop into Phelps Mansion on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and make a Father's Day card with them. Admission is free and you can reserve a spot by emailing them at nfo@phelpsmansion.org or call them at (607) 722-4873.  They are located at 191 Court Street in Binghamton.

Ross Park Zoo - America's 5th oldest zoo is offering free admission to all dads this Saturday and Sunday. Bonus: It's also their pathway through history weekend, so you can relive some of their history and share your memories of the zoo too.

You have two days to choose from to enjoy with the patriarch in your family. They are located at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton.

Animal Adventure Park - They are continuing their tradition of free admission for fathers when joined by their families on Father's Day. Bring the kids for a day of memory-making. They are located at 85 Martin Hill Road in Harpursville.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads and Father-like figures this weekend.

When it comes to Father's Day, country music has it covered. Here are some of my favorite songs for and about dad
