On July 4th, you'll be able to watch the annual Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest on ESPN, but according to casino.org, if you live in New Jersey, you won't be able to place a wager on it.

Now, I know you can practically on anything, but I never really imagined people placing wagers on who would win a hot dog eating contest.  I guess I was wrong, because casino.org says that earlier this week, "the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement denied a request from several sportsbooks to offer betting lines" on the annual eating competition.

If you were allowed to place a bet, the smart money would be on last year's winner, Joey Chestnut.  It was the 11th time he had won the Nathan's Original International Hot Dog Eating Contest and he did in style by consuming a record 74 wieners.

The Nathan's Original International Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place on July 4th at Coney Island, NY.  The women's competition will air on ESPN3 at 10:30am and the men's competition will air on ESPN2 at 12pm, with several airings throughout the day.  For more info, click here.
