A new study by the crypto casino Gamdom revealed which U.S. states are going all-in on sports betting in 2024. Bet you didn't know (pun intended)  that New York is in the mix for the top spot.

The study predicts that New Yorkers will be dropping over $1,000 ($1,087) per person on sports bets this year which puts us at third place nationwide. With a projected total spend of $12,276,643,183, New York isn't messing around when it comes to putting our money where our mouth is. New York is 78% above the national average for states where sports betting is legal.

So what states are ahead of New York? No surprise that Nevada, the OG gambling hub, is still holding onto its crown as the top gambling state. Their forecasted spend of $15,796,327,234 means every person will be tossing out an average of $1,815 on sports bets this year. That is 198% above the average for states with legal sports betting.

Taking the silver is New Jersey, coming in with a forecasted total sports betting spend of $12,987,512,341 and an average of $1,398 per person. Other states that are close are Massachusetts and Arizona.

Felix Römer, the guy behind Gamdom, put it perfectly, saying, “The figures are generally quite astounding in their scale. The amount of money wagered in the top few states is certainly a shocking statistic when compared to the average American state where sports betting is legal.”

When it comes to action, New York is one of the states that dominate the sports betting scene. I'll let you decide whether that is good or not.
