Some Binghamton Over-Air TV Frequencies Change
Southern Tier residents who still view television over-the-air with an antenna are going to have to go through another re-scanning of their channels as the Federal Communications Commission is shifting some of the frequencies.
In Binghamton, WBNG, FOX40 (WICZ) and WSKG public television are moving to make way for high-speed mobile broadband services. WSKG changed at the end of May while WICZ and Channel 12 are changing around July 3.
If you are no longer getting one of your normal over-the-air channels, the frequency may have already moved. Viewers will have to chose options like Channel Scan, Auto Search or Setup menu and chose the automatic re-scan option.
Since channels are moving at different dates, it may be necessary to re-scan your television several times if you notice channels missing, but you may also gain new stations.
Residents had to go through a similar re-scan for other channels last year.
