Okay, I have this obsession with maps and anything that you can see from the air. Google Maps is my best friend (yea, that's sad) and I am in awe of seeing the Earth from above. Whenever I'm on a plane, I have to have a window seat so I can see what the land looks like from high in the sky.

And now we have another way of seeing sight from above thanks to drones. I have never owned one or had the opportunity to operate a drone, but I've watched a lot of videos from people who do own and operate drones. I especially like the views from a drone of local areas.

Speaking of drones, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced a 50-mile drone corridor to host a 5G test network for unmanned aircraft. This will stretch from Syracuse to Rome. The press release notes that New York State so far has invested almost $70 million to advance the unmanned aircraft systems industry.

"Our drone corridor being selected for the launch of the nation's first 5G unmanned aircraft systems testing range further positions our state -specifically the Central New York and the Mohawk Valley region -as the global leader in the market for this cutting-edge technology," Governor Hochul said.

The Governor's press release bills it as a first in the nation,  and the 50-mile corridor has been determined to be a prime location as a testing range. The goal is to elevate the State of New York "as a global leader in this emerging technology sector."
