Susquehanna Valley School District, high school senior Elizabeth Zelenyak was chosen to be part of the All National Honors Band by the National Association for Music Education which is part of NYSSMA, on a side note this is the very first time a Susquehanna Valley musician has been selected for this national honor.

Elizabeth Zelenyak has performed as the main clarinet performer at many different venues, including Jazz Ensemble, Full Orchestra, and Concert Band, at Area-All-State All-County, and All-State Festivals.

Elizabeth is also the principal clarinet in the Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra.

When the pandemic started, she (Elizabeth) prepared an audition video for the All-Nationals Honors Band, Elizabeth spent many hours preparing and recording the music, before submitting it to the National Association for Music Education.

According to the press release from the school district, SV School Band Director and teacher Meggan Olds said  "Her beautiful gift of music, and her hard work and persistence to keep growing, are truly remarkable!"   

The national gathering event has been cancelled due to the pandemic, but plans to provide a virtual event for these gifted students is in the works.
