Fully Remote Jobs Are Growing, and New Yorkers Are Paying Attention
Working from home is no longer a trend. For many New Yorkers, it’s a real career goal. A new study shows what jobs are most likely to be fully remote soon, and which careers still require being on site every day.
Which Jobs Are Most Likely to Be Fully Remote
The study by iPostal1 used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They looked at which occupations have employees who work from home for all of their hours. The jobs with the highest number of fully remote workers are mostly office based and computer focused.
Tech Jobs Lead the Work From Home Shift
Computer and mathematical jobs rank at the top. More than one third of people in these roles work fully from home. For New Yorkers in tech, data, or software roles, this explains why remote work has become so common. These jobs often only require a laptop and an internet connection.
Business, Finance, and Creative Jobs Follow Close Behind
Business and financial operations jobs are next, with nearly 30 percent of workers fully remote. Jobs in arts, design, media, and entertainment also have a high number of people working from home. This includes writers, designers, editors, and digital creators.

Legal and Management Roles Are Also Going Remote
Legal careers and management roles round out the top five. While not everyone in these fields works remotely, many professionals are doing all of their work from home. For New Yorkers that have long commutes, this can mean more time at home and less time on the highway.
Some Jobs Still Can’t Be Done From Home
The study found that food preparation and service jobs have the fewest fully remote workers, with almost no one able to work from home. Construction, transportation, cleaning, repair, and healthcare jobs also ranked near the bottom.
Thinking About a Career Change?
This study shows which career paths have the most flexibility, with tech, business, creative, and legal fields leading the way. For some New Yorkers, fully remote work isn't just a perk anymore, it’s helping people choose jobs, where they live.
