Remlik's reminds me of the restaurant you try while on vacation. You know, the one that you end up talking about over and over to your friends. But Remlik's isn't hundred of miles away. It's right here in Downtown Binghamton at 31 Lewis Street!

Binghamton Restaurant Week is the perfect time to be introduced to the great eats of this town or in my case, return to an old favorite.

Remlik's is located in and named for the historic Kilmer building (the name Remlik is Kilmer spelled backwards). One of my favorite things to do at Remik's is to sit at their comfortable bar and try as much as I can on their bar menu.  However, during Restaurant Week, I wanted to take in the 5-star service and award winning tastes that make Remlik's such a popular restaurant here in the Southern Tier.

While it's tough making a decision as to what to chose off their special menu, I decided to start with the garden salad, which by the way, is stacked sky high with assorted greens and vegetables with a tasty homemade Caesar ranch dressing.

My main course was a delightful sesame encrusted Ahi. You can tell that the Remik's head chef takes time to research many tastes and flavors. The tuna is served with jasmine rice, pickled slaw and ginger hoisin sauce, it was the right balance of sweet, sour and spice.  Very, very nice!

Dessert was a large piece of homemade vanilla cake.

I must admit, I was pretty full by the time it was time to go.  The wine and cocktail list was extensive and the wait staff is exceptional.  Remlik's is one of those restaurants that you would to go on a date night, meeting a group of friends, a business meeting or just because you want good food.

My brother would always tell me you can tell a good restaurant if they refill your water glass without asking.  They do a fine job with this at Remik's.  It's the little things they do that keep me coming back for more.

Take a look at their raw bar with the largest shrimp you have ever seen this side of the Caribbean.  Appetizers are well presented at Remlik's and the ambiance is classic without feeling stuffy.  In fact, the attire always seems casual while some will dress up.  A wonderful evening for all.  I know you will love Remlik's.

Keep in mind, Binghamton Restaurant Week is serving up lunch and dinners through Thursday, September 24th.  A portion of the proceeds benefit two fine charities, CHOW and Animal Care Council.

Bon Appetit!
