The 2016 Toyota Country Lights Festival is just a few weeks away, Friday July 22nd at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton.  This year's lineup in pretty impressive with the award winning duo Montgomery Gentry headlining, along with Easton Corbin, Eric Paslay, Lindsay Ell and Kolby Oakley.  Brad Collins our 2016 Visions Country Challenge winner will open the show in front of thousands under those awesome stadium lights.

Many may not realize that Kolby is from Whitney Point and grew up listening to the Hawk.  I remember the first time I talked with him on the telephone.  He was very proud of his accomplishments in a relatively short period of time. He had one song he was especially proud of that he wrote and was getting phenomenal response at his live shows here in the Southern Tier.  'Mud Bog' was the song and with the video that we also posted at 981TheHawk.com, Kolby was on his way to live his dream.

Here's how that first interview went 10 months ago when Kolby Oakley stopped by the Hawk studios to chat about his song 'Kickin' Back' and his new live show:

Getting to know Kolby over the last year, I could tell he wanted to reach more of his performing goals.  I was excited to hear that he was relocating to Nashville to devote all of his time and energies in to recording and songwriting.  I was happy our Events team signed him on to play the 2016 Toyota Country Lights Festival, July 22nd at NYSEG Stadium.  I invited Kolby back for another interview to talk about his show and to play his new song called 'You and a Six String,' that he wrote and recorded in Nashville.
