Binghamton’s Red Kettle Campaign Kicks Off to Help Local Families in Need
The Salvation Army of Binghamton is starting its annual Red Kettle Campaign, and they’ve set a big goal this year to raise $75,000 to help local families. Beginning today, November 13th, you’ll see those familiar red kettles and friendly bell-ringers at spots all around Broome County, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The campaign will run through Christmas Eve.
Meeting Big Needs in Tough Times
Captain Joseph Hansen with The Salvation Army says this year’s goal is higher than usual because so many people are struggling with inflation and rising prices. He’s confident that with the community’s generosity and support from volunteers and retail partners, they’ll hit that goal.
Giving Has Never Been Easier
If you can’t make it to a red kettle in person, there are plenty of ways to give. You can call 1-800-SAL-ARMY, mail a check to 131 Washington St., Binghamton, NY 13901, or even donate using your phone.

Each kettle will have a QR code for Apple Pay and Samsung Pay users, plus tap-to-pay options at some locations. Every dollar stays right here in our community to fund local programs.
Why the Red Kettle Matters
Money raised through the campaign helps fund important services like food programs, youth activities, and disaster relief. The Salvation Army reminds us that everyone gives for a reason — maybe to honor a memory, to pay kindness forward, or simply because it feels good to help. They’re encouraging people to share their personal “reason for giving” on social media using #RedKettleReason.
Volunteers Make It Happen
The Red Kettle Campaign wouldn’t be possible without volunteers. If you’d like to ring a bell this season, stop by The Salvation Army office to sign up for a date, time, and location that works for you.
