Some people who've seen the sign at a Chenango Forks bar are pleased but others are criticizing the owner for using blunt language.

The message posted in front of Davy's Last Chance Saloon on Route 12 spells out the "s-word" to criticize "LIBERAL DEM UN-AMERICAN" individuals.

Chenango County resident Margaret Dodson-Buhl was told by the Broome County Sheriff's Office that nothing could be done about the sign.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Wednesday, Dodson-Buhl said she finds the message to be "super offensive." She believes the sign "should be taken down."

Dodson-Buhl said "the kids are going to see it." She said it will make it difficult to teach children not to use that kind of language.

Business owner Davy Dutcher told WNBF News Tuesday that he plans to keep the sign in place "until I figure out something more offensive." He said this wasn't the first time he's used the offending word in a message.

A Yelp review posted last July made note of the sign at the business using the word. The reviewer said the business "continually uses their outdoor sign to post racist or rude messages."
