Who Is Eligible to Receive Vouchers?
To qualify for the vouchers, individuals must be at least 60 years old and a resident of New York State. Seniors will also need to present a Broome County Office for Aging ID card. If you don’t already have one, they can complete an application on site during the distribution event. Proof of income is not required, making the process simple and accessible. However, each eligible person may only receive one booklet of vouchers per year.
Income Guidelines to Keep in Mind
While applicants won’t need to show proof of income, there are income guidelines in place to determine eligibility. A one person household should have a monthly income of $2,413 or less. For a two-person household, the limit is $3,261 per month, and for a three person household, it is $4,109 or less. These guidelines help ensure the program reaches those who would benefit most from the additional support.
How to Get an Office for Aging ID Card
Those who don’t yet have an Office for Aging ID card have a few options. Applications can be filled out in person at any Broome County Senior Center, printed and completed ahead of time from the county’s website, or filled out on site during the voucher distribution event. Having this card makes it easier for seniors to access a variety of services through the Office for Aging in the future.
Event Details: When and Where to Pick Up Vouchers
The distribution will take place today, Wednesday, August 20, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Broome County Library in the Decker Community Room. Seniors are encouraged to arrive on time and bring their Office for Aging ID card, or be ready to complete the application when they get there.
A Delicious Way to Support Local Agriculture
This program is not only a great way to help seniors eat fresh and healthy, it also provides valuable support to local farmers and markets. From ripe tomatoes and sweet corn to fresh berries and greens, these vouchers offer access to the best produce the region has to offer. It’s a small step that makes a big difference for individuals and the community alike.

If you or someone you know qualifies, don’t miss this chance to enjoy the bounty of New York’s farms. Healthy food and a thriving local economy are just a visit to the farmers market away.
