Does anyone under 30 even know what a phone book is, and when was the last time your fingers did the walking?

Over 3 years ago I remember reading a survey that said around 17% of our population still had a land line phone.

When was the last time you used a phone book? Every time I see the new phone books are out, I can't help but think about Steve Martin in 'The Jerk' running around yelling, "The new phone books are here!". That famous line is now a part of history that takes us back to a time when people counted on their phone books.

I thumbed through the book this morning, just to see how many of my friends and family were in there, I found my parents, and one of my aunts, all these people are in their 70's or 80's.

Today's phone book is becoming more of a conversation piece, and less of a viable tool for people to find phone numbers.

I see a lot of business listed in the phone book, most smart phones will give you the number, address and verbal GPS directions right to the location.

The phone book as we knew it is gone, and will probably disappear from the next generation.
