Pennsylvania COVID Infection Rates Slowing?

Pennsylvania reports a little good news on the coronavirus infection front as the state expands eligibility for residents to get the COVID-19 vaccination to residents age 65 and older.

Governor Tom Wolf and Health Commissioner Doctor Rachel Levine January 19 said the statewide percent positivity rate is down with 3,833 fewer new cases over the past week compared with previous weeks.  The Democrat says the commonwealth is seeing great progress in bringing the statewide percent positivity rate down. He credits Pennsylvanians’ continued commitment to wearing masks and avoiding gatherings.

The rate was down 1.7% from January 7 to January 14.

The number of new cases in the Northern Tier also appears to have slowed a little bit with Bradford, Susquehanna and Wayne Counties all reporting improvement.

Where Bradford had 245 new cases from January 4 to January 11, it reported 204 new cases between the 11^th and January 18.  Susquehanna County reported 144 new cases on the 11^th for the previous week but January 18 reported 113 new cases for the week.  Wayne County had recorded a weekly increase in cases of 286 on the 11^th.  Monday, January 18, Wayne County reported 189 new cases for the week.
