New York landed in the top 10 on a new list ranking the most patriotic states in America. National Loyalty Day is on May 1st, and DuelBits Predict looked at voter turnout, military population, charitable giving, searches for American symbols, national anthem lyric searches, and the number of monuments in each state.

New York ranked seventh overall

New York finished seventh in the country with a score of 7.65 out of 10. The state ranked really high when it came to searches for American symbols. They found New Yorkers search terms like “American flag,” “bald eagle,” and “In God We Trust” nearly 25 times per 1,000 residents, which was one of the highest rates in the country.

They also found out that New Yorkers are among the most generous. The study found residents donate an average of $1,623 per person to charity, putting the Empire State among the top states for giving. I like hearing that.

New York leads the country in monuments

New York also stood out for having more monuments than any other state. They counted 4,955 monuments in New York, the highest total in the country. New York beat out Pennsylvania, which came in second with 4,243 monuments.

A few categories hurt New York’s ranking

New York didn’t crack the top five because of lower voter turnout and military population numbers. They found that over 52% of eligible voters in New York voted in the 2024 presidential election, giving the state one of the lowest turnout rates in the country. Surprisingly, New York’s military population was lower than many other states at 2.86%.

Which states ranked higher?

Maine ranked first, followed by Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Even though we didn't make the top five, New York still ranked as one of the most patriotic states in America.
