City of Binghamton officials say there will be water service interruptions Tuesday, March 22 in parts of the City and Town of Binghamton.

Officials say 11 streets in the City and three in the Town will be affected approximately during the period between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22.

The following streets are on the list to have service turned off to allow for scheduled repairs and replacement of an old pressure-reducing valve on the South Side:

In the City of Binghamton:

  • Midwood Drive
  • Cornell Avenue
  • Oakridge Drive
  • Phinn Avenue
  • Mill Street
  • Elizabeth Lane
  • Westerly Way
  • Forrest Street
  • Edgewood Road
  • Espial Drive
  • Penston Road

In the Town of Binghamton:

  • Seneca Street
  • Oswego Street
  • Genesee Street

Residents in the affected areas are being told to refrain from using their water between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to prevent damage to meters, pipes and appliances.

After the water service is restored, the Water Department will flush the lines.

Residents may notice some discoloration or cloudiness and they should check their cold water before using any water.

It may be necessary to run the cold tap only for a few minutes to clear the service.
