One of the biggest things that we hear during the coronavirus pandemic and the Christmas season is to "buy local." I've always believed that and this year we should also "help local."

One of the organizations is the Afton VFW Post 3529 as they continue to renovate their building that was built in 1898. Here's a way that you can help them during the "Afton in Winter" celebration.

It's a day of spreading Christmas cheer in Afton with virtual and in-person festivities including the Upside Down Parade. The annual Afton Christmas Parade was cancelled this year but that's not stopping them from celebrating the holiday season.

Get to the VFW at 187 Main Street, Afton for "Breakfast without Santa." The pancake breakfast goes from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and although there won't be breakfast with Santa at the VFW, he'll still be making an appearance.

The jolly man will be a part of the "Afton in Winter" events from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. across the street at PAIX Salon and Day Spa as part of their holiday window display. It's called "Photos with Santa Quarantined in Candy Land."

So you may not have breakfast with him at the Afton VFW, you can still get your picture taken there. Go here to see all the other events that will be taking place on Saturday in Afton.

If you can't make it on Saturday but still would like to contribute, you can help by mailing your contribution to Afton VFW Post 3529, P.O. Box 238, Afton New York 13730.
