A new Christmas survey from Hard Rock Bet asked Americans a playful but bold question. Would you lie and tell a related child that Santa isn’t real if it guaranteed your favorite team would win a championship? When you look at New York, the answer is… a little intense.

New York Ranks in the Top Five Nationwide

New York finished as the 5th most ruthless state in the country. According to the survey, nearly 40% of New Yorkers said they would be willing to ruin the magic of Santa and lie, if it meant their team finally winning it all. That puts New York near the top, with states like North Dakota and California.

What That Number Really Means

Nearly four out of ten people in New York admitted they would make that trade. That is a big number when you think about how seriously many families take Christmas traditions. It shows just how deep sports loyalty runs across the Empire State.

New York Fans Don’t Mess Around

Whether it is football, baseball, hockey, or basketball, New Yorkers are known for rooting hard for their teams. This survey backs that up in a blunt way. A championship is valuable enough for many fans to make an awkward holiday moment permanent.

Christmas Magic vs. Championship Dreams

While most New Yorkers still said no, the fact that nearly 40 percent said yes says a lot. In New York, sports pride runs strong, and for some fans, winning it all is tempting enough to make even Santa part of the sacrifice. Thankfully, for the other 60 percent, the North Pole is still safe.
