An Authentic Italian Market and Bistro Is Coming to Owego This Summer
If you've visited downtown Owego and caught wind of a new venture coming to Front Street, you're not imagining things. Word is traveling fast and for good reason. Something special is on the horizon.
Say Hello to Villaggio Italian Market
Set to open sometime this summer at 173 Front Street, Villaggio Italian Market promises to bring a flavorful slice of Italy to the Southern Tier. Think cozy neighborhood market meets intimate wine and bites bistro where the aroma of freshly baked bread greets you at the door and the shelves are lined with all the Italian staples you didn’t know you were missing.
More Than Just Groceries
This isn’t your typical grocery stop. Villaggio is all about the experience. The market will offer a carefully curated selection of Italian specialties, everything from fresh and aged cheeses to cured meats, pastas (yes, both dry and fresh), and rich sauces made from vine-ripened tomatoes.

Olives, olive oil, artisan breads, condiments, wines, gelato, pantry staples, and even take-and-bake meals round out the selection. Whether you're hosting a dinner party or just want to treat yourself to something special, the market is built for food lovers who appreciate the details.
The Bistro Feel Adds Something Extra
Not in the mood to cook? Step into the bistro area, where Villaggio plans to serve a small but thoughtful tapas menu. You’ll be able to pair a glass of wine or a cold beer with freshly baked bread and herb oil, creamy burrata, build-your-own cheese and charcuterie boards, crisp salads, or even warm, melty baked brie (a nod to comfort food, even if it’s not traditionally Italian).

Coming Soon, and They Want Your Input
The team behind Villaggio is hoping to open the doors by the end of August, and they’re just as excited to meet you as you are to peek inside. If you have ideas for what you'd love to see on the shelves or on the menu, they want to hear from you. Swing by once the doors open, they’re all ears.
