Otsiningo Dog Park Plan Being Developed by Broome County
Broome County officials are working to finalize a plan to establish a special canine recreational area at Otsiningo Park.
The new dog park is to be located at the north end of Otsiningo off Front Street in the town of Chenango.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said the section of the park is "absolutely a great spot" for the facility. He said the centralized location will make it attractive to county residents.
Garnar told WNBF News he hopes construction work for the dog park could get underway next year. But he noted there could be challenges in terms of obtaining needed supplies for the project.
The county executive said "the way things are going" in the industry, much of the work may not be completed until the end of the 2024 construction season.
Broome County has been awarded $25,000 as part of a grant contest sponsored by PetSafe. The money will be used to cover some of the cost of the planned dog park. The total price tag for the facility has not been announced.
