Pennsylvania State Police responded to State Route 414 in Franklin Township at 11:23 p.m. Christmas Eve for a report of a collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck.

Authorities say 28-year-old Ben Welch of Canton was driving a 2005 Subaru sedan westbound when he left the westbound shoulder of the road for an unknown reason, overcorrected and swerved into the eastbound lane where the car collided with a 2019 Ford F-350 extended cab pickup truck.

Welch was pronounced dead at the scene.

40-year-old Michael Hamilton of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, who was driving the pickup was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Bradford County Coroner's Office.
