New York now has a law providing no-cost transportation to sexual assault victims who receive initial care at a medical facility. The Safe Way Home Act will provide a ride to the victim’s home, shelter or other safe location. It will take effect in 90 days. Governor Andrew Cuomo says this act provides some peace of mind and security at a time when victims are most vulnerable by helping ensure they get home or to a safe location.
