Over $162,000 is going to human service programs in the City of Binghamton under the Community Development Block Grant program.

Mayor Richard David announced the awards to 11 agencies working with low-income families, seniors, youth and those struggling with addiction for 2019.

The largest award, $45,000 is going to Fairview Recovery Services addiction case management program.

The other agencies receiving funding are the Healthy Lifestyles coalition for the Lee Barta Center after school programs, Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments or “VINES” for the youth employment program, Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network, Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, the Broome County Urban League, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, Family Planning of South Central New York, Broome County Office for Aging Meals on Wheels program and the Handicapped Children’s Association.

Officials say the CDBG funding through the federal department of Housing and Urban Development will assist an estimated 2,400 individuals in Binghamton.
