Are you like me and are a homeowner in New York? Well then, you know that fall maintenance time is here. But what's the one challenge that always causes you the most issues?

Take a minute to think about it and see if you agree with this. The team at Roto-Rooter did some research of their own and this is what they found. The most common home repair in New York, (according to 20 years of search history), is mold removal. I have to admit that has certainly has been a bi problem for me. What about you?

What about the rest of the country? According to Roto-Rooter, the most common repair across the country is for a leaky faucet, taking the top spot in 11 states. Following closely behind are repairs for running toilets in 8 states and broken windows in 6 states.

All of those are legitimate issues but here are some other interesting answers. Hawaiian locals seem to be most concerned with termite damage, and Texans are leading the way in foundational repair inquiries.

How did Roto-Rooter get all of the answers? They got 20 of the most common home repairs and put them through 20 years' worth of Google Trends data to find out the top repair searched for in each state from 2004 to 2024.

If you're curious to find out more about their results and see what repair was tops in each state, you can check out the full report from Roto-Rooter here. If you're a New York homeowner getting ready for fall maintenance or in the middle of it right now, it might be time to tackle that mold issue.
