A recent release from Vegas Insider let us know the birthplaces of TIME's Person of the Year honorees, and the results might surprise you!
It turns out that the neighborhoods of New York have set the stage for not one, not two, but seven of the illustrious winners. This list of legendary figures includes Owen D. Young, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Walt Whitman, giving New York's status as a powerhouse for producing influential people.
The Empire State is not the only place with bragging rights. Pennsylvania comes in with six winners, with the likes of George C. Marshall and Wallis Simpson proudly claiming the state as their birthplace.
Not to be outdone, Texas has five winners of its own, including Dwight D. Eisenhower and Lyndon B. Johnson. Who would have thought that the Lone Star State could give NY a run for its money in the birthplace of greatness?
The honorees from New York represent nearly 15% of all TIME Person of the Year winners born in the U.S. The findings also shed light on other states like Illinois, Georgia, and California, each making their own mark with multiple winners.
With the spotlight shining so brightly on their origin stories, the birthplaces of these influential figures clearly shape their destiny. This new revelation from Vegas Insider has upped the ante for these birthplaces to continue producing the best and brightest.
