The only time I "run" is when I get paid to do it during the basketball season as a referee or when I'm late for dinner. However it looks like I might be in the minority in New York.

Google searches for 'running clubs' in New York State have shot up by 108% over the past year! In case you missed it, over 24,000 runners participated in the New York Half Marathon on March 16th, showing that the Empire State has a real love for running!

In a recent study by Compare The Market AU, researchers wanted to find out the best places for running worldwide. After looking at things like running events, trails, air quality, safety, and rainfall, New York State came in at the #2 spot globally and claimed the top spot in the U.S. with an score of 55.74 out of 100!

With an incredible 246 running events happening in the Empire State, we are, beating out all other U.S. states. In fact: there are 17,380 running clubs in New York State – second only to London, England. Also, New York State has 351 parks, giving plenty of chances for runners to enjoy some peaceful nature runs.

With the warmer weather here, more runners will be lacing up their sneakers, hitting the trails, and finding the best running spots the state has to offer. As the running community continues to grow and more people embrace the running hype, it's clear that New York State is THE place to be for runners looking for fun challenges. Maybe I'll have to try it for myself during the offseason.
