New York Beaches to Open for Memorial Day Weekend
Governor Andrew Cuomo says state and local beaches in New York will be permitted to open for the upcoming holiday weekend.
Cuomo Friday provided details on what precautions will be implemented to protect people from the spread of the coronavirus if they visit a beach for the Memorial Day weekend.
The governor said those who go to beaches in New York will be required to wear masks. Beaches will be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity. Concession stands will not be permitted to open.
Cuomo said no group activities will be allowed. He said state-operated beaches will open next Friday.
Local officials must announce by Wednesday whether they plan to open their beaches for the holiday weekend.
Beaches in New Jersey, Connecticut and Delaware also are to reopen next weekend.
