Broome County is opening the beaches at Nathaniel Cole Park at 11 a.m. June 5.

New York State opened beaches in time for Memorial Day at state facilities, including Chenango Valley State Park but the Broome County beaches remained closed.

Broome County Parks, Recreation and Youth Services says only Cole Park beaches are open this weekend with other spots, like Dorchester Park, still off limits.

County Parks are open but playgrounds, athletic fields, shelters and concessions are still closed.

Social distancing and mask-wearing rules still apply. There is a limit on occupancy for Broome Parks, so residents should have back-up plans.

Park attendees are encouraged to enjoy outdoor spaces close to home, go small with people in your own immediate household and keep visits short.
