As Father's Day approaches, I look at my kids, and I realize how incredibly fast time flies by. Darius Rucker was absolutely right when he sang "It Won't Be Like This For Long" and I can't believe how fast that my daughter, Tara has grown up.

She's gone from the 5-year-old girl saying "Daddy, you have the bestest car ever" to driving me in that same vehicle to eat lunch together. She's so independent, fearless, and willing to try anything. I have to remind myself that she's 16 and not 6.

There are several lines in the Darius Rucker song that makes me think of my daughter. But what movie quote/quotes would describe what she has done for me? The answer at the end.

Tara has her own YouTube channel "Paranormal Girl" and in one episode she addresses the issue "How Do You Know It's Love." WHAT!!  I was worried that she had found someone and I had no idea who it was.

It turns out she was just giving her reaction to an old-time video about love from 1950 and giving her modern-day take. It was hilarious and I was relieved. I wonder where she gets her slightly twisted humor from?

I'm hoping that the good will FAR outweigh the dumb things that I've done as a parent. I realize that only time will tell but that doesn't mean that I'm not a little anxious now. She'll always be my little girl and people will tell you that she saved me from myself.

Movie Quote For Daughters On Father's Day Weekend

So on this Father's Day weekend, I thank God that He sent you to be my child.  To you, Tara, to quote Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets," You make me want to be a better man.

You are my greatest Father's Day (and birthday) gift, now let's take a trip to Frosty Joe's and celebrate. You can drive...my convertible.
