We've had heavy hearts for the last couple of days.  We think of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary. My daughter Tara will do or say something that brings a smile to my face and then I'll find myself suddenly feeling sad. I know how lucky I am and I also know that it can be taken away from me. I may not be able to do anything about it and that makes me feel powerless.

So when I ran across this story, it reminded me of the time we took Tara to get her picture taken with Santa.  The first year she was less than 2 months old, so having a man with a white beard and red suit was just fine.  The next year, she wasn't going to take all the picture taking sitting still.  She was just a moving and a groovin around.  We finally got a picture that we could use....sort of.

This was in Idaho.  The family waited in line for about a half hour to get a picture with Santa.  When they got to the front of the line, 8 month old "Kiptyn" had fallen asleep.  Santa, being the ever thoughtful elf, had the baby put on his stomach and he pretended he was asleep with the baby. It's pictures and moments like these that bring a smile to my face.  So whatever kind of day you're having, I hope this can make it a little brighter.
