Local Library Offers Way to Relax With Singing Bowls
The work week can get to you and you just want a chance to unwind and relax. The Broome County Public Library (BCPL) has the answer with a new book club. It's Sound Bath Immersion, using different percussion instruments as well as Himalayan Singing bowls.
This process allows for the release of hormones and chemicals within our bodies that influences both our physical and emotional bodies. It takes place on the first and third Wednesday of the month including Wednesday, June 5th and 19th at 6:10 p.m.
The BCPL will also have a program about Ancient Romans on Thursday, June 6th at 6 p.m. "The Romans Never Set Foot in Ireland," will be presented by Dr. Timothy P. Bridgman. Registration is required so call (607) 778-6451.
Also on Thursday, find out how to join the Broome County Public Library Book Club. They are having a meeting at 6 p.m. and will discuss Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
Finally, the Broome County Public Library will have a fairy costume workshop for teens and adults on Saturday, June 8th at 9 a.m. You'll learn how to make a hankie shirt and a broomstick skirt. Some embellishing materials will be provided but you must bring all the other supplies.
This class is for ages 15 and up and some sewing experience is suggested. This sounds like something that my daughter, Tara, would be interested in and this could be a great way to spend together time with your child. Registration is required as space is limited.
To find out more about any of these events or to register, call the BCPL Information Desk at (607) 778-6451.
