Chenango Forks standout athlete Lucas Scott took to Twitter yesterday to announce that he is committing to play football for the United States Military Academy at West Point. The 6-3, 245 lb. fullback and linebacker  will graduate from Chenango Forks High School this summer.


Scott was a key part of last years Chenango Forks team that won the Class B State Championship, beating Schuylerville 38 -14, capping off their undefeated season.

Not only is Scott a standout when it comes to high school football, but according to the Chenango Forks page on CNY Wrestling, Lucas Scott is also a pretty good wrestler for the Blue Devils as well. According to that report, Lucas was undefeated on the mat going 37 and 0 as a wrestler last year.

Scott is not the only Southern Tier high school football standout that decided to play his college ball at Army. Former Spartan running back Darnell Woolfolk also chose Army after graduating from Maine-Endwell High School.

According to ESPN, Woolfolk played four seasons at Army from 2015 through 2018. Woolfolk finished his career with the Black Knights averaging 4.9 yards per carry, he rushed for 2,368 yards on 487 attempts, and scored 37 touchdowns.

According to Army Football's website, Woolfolk was so impressive his final year at West Point that the New York Giants invited him to their rookie camp in 2019.

Due to Covid-19, the Southern Tier's 2020 high school football season was moved from fall of 2020, to spring of 2021.
