Police are initiating saturation patrols cracking down on speeders, drivers using cell phones and travelers who are not buckled up.

Travelers are reminded that, while the weather is not expected to be an issue, traffic is expected to be very heavy for the next few days and they should allot plenty of time to get where they are going and remember reduced speeds and lane restrictions are still in effect in construction zones even when workers are not on site.

Sobriety checkpoints are also stepped up during holiday travel periods with the current period lasting over two weeks with the Christmas and New Year holidays falling mid-week this year.
